Handling Vegas

There’s a classic scene from the movie The Hangover where the groom, Doug (Justin Bartha), is lost, and his groomsmen are looking for him when they look up and see that a mattress is on the roof of Caesars Palace. At that moment, one of the extras in the movie looks up at the mattress and says, “Some guys just can’t handle Vegas.” From first-hand experience, I can tell you that Vegas is something to be handled or not. If you enjoy a cocktail, you can find many and more. If you like to play some games of chance, they are everywhere. If you enjoy nightlife, it’s everywhere and endless. Regardless of what you enjoy, its doubtless that Vegas is to be handled.

With the D-Hop signing this week, there isn’t much press about a tiny Vegas thing that happened over the summer during training camp. The Raiders decided it would be a good idea to poke some fun at our Quarterback and his Kermit the Frog voice. So they made a video of a Kermit puppet with a Mahomes Jersey and Hair and decided to call MVPat some interesting young boy names. Football Social Media went a little crazy with this, and eventually, the story got back to MVPat. A reporter interviewed Pat over the summer and asked him his opinion of this video. Pat replied, “It will get handled when it gets handled.” For those of us watching from the sidelines – uh – that would be Sunday.

After the Bills moved to acquire Amari Cooper and the Jets acquired Davante Adams, many in Chiefs Kingdom wondered, what about us? Considering all the injuries to the Chiefs Wide receivers this season, many of us were growing anxious. Brett Veach, the all-world General Manager of the Chiefs, finally made his statement this week by acquiring Wide Receiver Deandre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans and, in that one move, re-assuring Chiefs Kingdom that he’s handling it. I get the feeling Brett’s not done yet because the Chiefs just quietly renegotiated Right Tackle Jawaan Taylor’s contract to free up some more money for Veach to shop for some more players. This move signals that the Chiefs will likely make one or two more moves to help these Chiefs get the right extra players down the stretch. Relax Chiefs Kingdom, Brett Veach is handling it.

Looking ahead to the Raiders game on Sunday, this could signify a trap game, that perhaps the 6-0 Chiefs may overlook the 2-5 Raiders. Given all that’s happened with the addition of Dhop to the Chiefs, MVPat’s revenge, and a weakened Raiders Offense minus Davante Adams we should expect the Chiefs to make short work of the Raiders. The next two Opponents after the Raiders will be the banged-up Buccaneers and the Bo-Nix-led Bronocos coming to Arrowhead. In the 3-peat year, these Chiefs are in a position to start a perfect 9-0. What more could we ask for? Can you handle it Chiefs fans? Let’s Go!
