Reset

Chiefs Kingdom! It’s such a great pleasure to start the 2025 season of the newest version of our beloved Kansas City Chiefs. The quest for being the only team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls ended miserably and convincingly in New Orleans with the beat-down that the Eagles handed the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. If we are honest, that Chiefs team was flawed at the O-Line, and they were finally exposed in the worst way, but it had to be. How did the Chiefs respond in the off-season? They set us up for a reset.
If you think of our Chiefs since MVPat has come on the scene, we have witnessed multiple ways to win with his unique and incredible talent. There was the high-flying offense of the Chiefs during the Tyreek Hill Era, from 2018 to 2021. Those Chiefs could score from anywhere on the field. Let’s call that version 1.0. The version 1.0 era ended after the Chiefs lost to the Bengals in the 2022 AFC title game, prompting a reset to a defense-first team. That was fun for a moment, but if we are honest, don’t we miss the fireworks?
That first reset resulted in back-to-back Super Bowl titles and a trip to a three-peat. That Chiefs team featured receivers MVS, Kadarius Toney, Sky Moore, and Mecole Hardman, to name a few. Could anyone but Patrick Mahomes win a title without a marquis receiver? Nevertheless, he did win with this group, beating the Eagles no less, and the 49ers. They rode this dink-dunk, long-drive offense and stingy defense as far as they could, and the era ended last February. Setting up the reset. Let’s call that version 2.0 era.
While we are on the topic of resets, I wanted to discuss a person who needed a reset. His name was Saul of Tarsus. He lived about 2,000 years ago. In his day, he was ordering the deaths of anyone who considered themselves a follower of Jesus. He did this because he believed that these followers were contrary to the Jewish tradition of which Saul was a leader. So what did God do with this guy? God blinded him for three days, transformed his thinking, and this Saul got a name change to Paul. Paul became one of the most important heroes of Christianity. He went from a guy who was torturing and murdering Christians to a guy who ended up saving Billions of them through his writings! God can take your failings and use them for His good purposes. Romans 8:28 says “For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purposes”. This was one of life’s greatest resets, and if God can do that for Paul, he can reset your life no matter what you’ve done. Bringing us to these Chiefs. Did you see MVPats face as he walked off the field in New Orleans after that Super Bowl? He needed a reset and a vacation!
I’ve never seen MVPat so defeated, so in need of a reset. The Chiefs got busy in the off-season creating a new O-Line to protect MVPat, while adding defensive talent. We added what appears to be a major stud at Left Tackle Josh Simmons, receiving talent in Jalen Royals, and running back talent in Brashard Smith. Let’s call this version 3.0 era..

As we look forward to the season opener, I expect that we will see MVPat take some early deep throws. We got a glimpse of that in the pre-season in the game vs the Bears. MVPat had a long strike to Tyquan Thornton for 58 yards. A departure from 2024, in which the Chiefs ranked dead last in the league on Deep Throws. Dead Last! Imagine with the talent of our quarterback that the Chiefs just didn’t or wouldn’t throw deep? It’s so much harder to win when your team concentrates on taking 11 or 12 plays to get into the end zone instead of one or two. Yet despite this surprising statistic, Mahomes 2.0 still led these Chiefs to the Super Bowl. Lookout AFC! Who isn’t excited to see Tyquan Thornton and his blazing 4.28-second 40-yard speed catching some bombs from QB1? Or Xavier Worthy and his record-setting 4.21 speed? The Chiefs have built a track squad to reset the new era. This era’s tour, who wouldn’t love a great reset? The greatest things in life can happen after a reset! Let’s go!
