The Crowd

The Crowd

There’s a concept called the wisdom of the crowd. This concept holds that the opinions of a larger group will outperform those of an individual. These days, the largest population of experts is declaring our Chiefs and our Dynasty dead. So, are we? Are you the type to follow the crowd even when they may be wrong? It’s always best to take a step back and reflect. Warren Buffett explains this concept perfectly when discussing investing. He commented, “When the crowd is panicking about investing, that’s the perfect time to get greedy.” When it comes to our Chiefs, it feels like we’ve hit that moment.
In last week’s game against the Colts, you may have viewed the outcome through many lenses. Heck, the Chiefs were trailing 20-9 in the 4th quarter before the comeback started; however, the Chiefs were moving the ball all day. So while the crowd would tell you that the Colts were dominating the game, were they? Let’s recap. The Colts’ first score came on a poor RPO attempt by MVPat to start the game. If that play doesn’t happen, you take seven away from the Colts. Following that, who can forget the beautiful goal-line TD by Trav that was nullified by a poorly called facemask on Juwaan Taylor. That call cost the Chiefs a net of four points because they ended up kicking a field goal. Who can forget Kareem Hunt’s fourth-quarter fumble? His first lost fumble since 2017! He basically handled 1,674 touches before that without losing a fumble; however, in the worst moment, Kareem fumbled while stretching for more yards. That drive was surely headed for seven points. You change those three plays, and this game would have been a yawner at 31-13 for our Chiefs. The media crowd saw it differently. The crowd saw the Chiefs barely beating the Colts. Speaking of Crowds…..
There’s a significant moment in the life of Jesus when he had to deal with the crowd. This miracle is important because it is the only miracle that was chronicled in all four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Surely you’ve heard the story. Jesus is becoming increasingly famous and is followed by a large crowd of 5,000 people. After listening to Jesus speak, it gets late, so he has to feed them. The only thing available is five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus used these to feed all the people that day. Chiefs Kingdom, the point is that although the crowd of disciples had no idea how to feed these people, God can turn even a little bit into abundance. God can do things beyond what the crowd sees.
This brings us to the upcoming game and what the experts see.
The upcoming game against the Cowboys will be a massive challenge for our Chiefs. The Cowboys have a talented Offense, with Dak Prescott, George Pickens, and Cee Dee Lamb, and they are a considerable downfield passing threat. The Cowboys have just beaten the defending Champion Eagles, and are at home. Surely the crowd in the national media believes that this is the moment that our Chiefs will finally drop dead, it’s almost like they are hoping for it.
If we’ve seen one thing from our Chiefs, it’s that Spags will find a way to neutralize the opponent’s strengths. The Cowboys come in ranked 29th in defense, while the Chiefs come in ranked sixth.

This game feels like it is going to be an aerial, high-flying shootout. I expect MVPat to find plenty of soft spots in the Cowboys’ defense. The Chiefs receivers should find plenty of open space in the Cowboys secondary. This feels like a Tyquan Thornton, and Rashee Rice feast.

I expect Spags to find ways to trap and deceive Dak Prescott. I expect that in key moments, Spags will send the crowd, and this will trap Dak Prescott, causing him to turn the ball over, and that will be the difference in the game. Our defense is overdue for some turnovers, which will end tomorrow. Let’s go!
