Building

What are you good at building?
Have you ever built something meaningful? It takes some planning; mistakes happen along the way, but you adjust, and if you keep your eye on the prize, you can hit your target.
Whenever I set out to build a piece of furniture or equipment from a purchase, I oddly always end up with extra items, such as screws or other miscellaneous parts. What about you? Are you a master builder?
Many of our fellow fans believe that our GM and Head Coach, Veach and Reid, are master craftsmen.
Chiefs Kingdom, we are beginning to see a good plan that’s taking shape. If you look very closely you can see how this team has been built. Our young secondary is beginning to look impenetrable. In the last three games, the Chiefs have given up less than 200 yards passing in each game, with the Eagles passing for only 94 yards. The group, featuring Brian Cook, Chamarri Conner, and Nohl Williams, has been sharp. This secondary looks special, and with Kristian Fulton coming back from IR, Jaylen Watson playing steady, this defense is getting healthier and better!
Speaking of building, there is a great parable in the book of Matthew about wise builders. Jesus said, “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” The parable is about leaning into God as our foundation when life’s storms hit. Chiefs Kingdom, when life’s storms hit, where do you go for strength? If you lean on God, the promise he makes us is that we will not fall! Haven’t our Chiefs proven to us that they, too, have been built on a solid foundation!

Shifting to the other side of the line of scrimmage, this Offense is just now showing the design of how they’ve been built. The return of Xavier Worthy came at the perfect time. Watching Worthy gash the Ravens time and again for 32 yards on a jet sweep, and 37 yards on a deep shot was exactly what the entire Kingdom has been waiting for. It wasn’t just beating the Ravens that was so impressive, but how it happened.
The Chiefs’ secondary was stingy, allowing 194 yards in the air, but MvPat delivered a 4 TD beautiful performance that has us dreaming of the return of Rashee Rice.
This week’s game against the Jags is a great test of the foundation for our Chiefs. The Jags have a defense that leads the league in takeaways, so our Offense needs to be careful with the ball. I expect Spags and our talented secondary to frustrate Trevor Lawrence. We should look forward to continued confidence-building in our emerging running back, Brashard Smith, and more deep shots to Xman and Tyquan. If you squint just a little, you can see Rashee in the distance. Let’s go!
