Remember some of the hardest exams that you’ve had to take? Who can recall Calculus Exams, or Chemistry Exams? These were moments of truth, sweat-it-out tests that basically identified if you knew your material or if you were bluffing. I can remember the times when I was completely prepared for my material. These were the Clint Eastwood “Go ahead make my day” moments. In these tests, we were so ready to handle anything the teacher threw at us that we could fly through them in minutes—remember? I can remember, in these cases, making up my own test within a test to see if I could be the first in the class to finish it. Know what I mean? Chiefs Kingdom, on Sunday, we will have a good chance to take an early test and see if the 2025 Chiefs team we all see is, in fact, what we believe it to be: another legitimate Chiefs team ready for a title run.
In Monday’s game against the Commanders, we watched the Chiefs get stopped in the first half, make numerous mistakes, and still handily defeat the Commanders 28-7. We witnessed another great effort by this Defense, and an explosive Second-Half offensive performance that created the separation by our team. What is now becoming crystal clear to all of us again is that MVPat is on his way to claiming his third MVP award. In the Second Half of that game, we watched MVPat dominate, completing 89.5% of his passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. After being tested in the first half against a willing Washington team, this Chiefs Offense woke up and had the cheat code for the test.
Speaking of tests, one of History’s greatest tests occurred in the Old Testament with Daniel. Daniel was a young Jewish boy who was taken to serve under the King of Babylon. God gave Daniel a talent to interpret dreams which made him useful to the King. Daniel was known to be devout to God, and he prayed daily. Daniel’s closeness to the King made the King’s subjects jealous, so they passed a law that anyone who prayed to any God other than the King would be punished. One day, while Daniel was praying, the King’s subjects caught him and presented him to the King. His punishment? To be fed to Lions. The King and Daniel were boxed in. So, into the lion’s den he went, God sent an Angel to save him, and God shut the Lions’ mouths. Chiefs Kingdom, when Daniel’s faith was tested, he continued praying, and even though it was a significant risk to him, God rescued him. So what tests do you face daily? God will use your faithfulness and rescue you just as with Daniel! Be patient! So, as we think of the Lions’ den, I think our Chiefs are just arriving in Buffalo to face the Bills for this year’s test.
This test vs the Bills is different than years past. These Chiefs are remarkably better than the Bills. The Chiefs have a top 5 Offense and a Top 5 Defense. The Bills, on the other hand, possess a top-5 offense but a 12th-ranked defense. This year’s Chiefs team seems much more balanced than their opponents; however, the Bills are dangerous. James Cook is among the top running backs in the league and is talented enough to help the Bills keep the ball away from the high-powered Chiefs Offense. The game-within-the-game question is, can the Chiefs stop the run? Can the Chiefs defense stop the intermediate throws to the Bills tight-ends?

On the offensive side of the ball, Patrick Mahomes is among the leading candidates for MVP. Mahomes is also using his legs to open opportunities. He has 280 yards rushing, so teams have to respect his legs. Kareem Hunt has also emerged as a near-unstoppable force in short-yardage situations. Kareem Hunt is basically our version of the tush-push, converting a whopping 88% of short-yardage plays through eight games. This game is a must-win for both teams and is a fascinating midterm test for both Teams. The Chiefs are ready to emerge from this Lions den victorious. Let’s go!
